CFB Depth 2.0 - Coming 8.1.26
We are taking CFB Depth to the next level ahead of the 2026 season. Better site performance, more data views, analysis, and a game-changing 'CFBAI' Agent. Here is a preview of what's to come.
The proof of concept that was the first iteration of CFB Depth has passed with flying colors. That was always the plan. Build something to get started, gauge the reaction, and then build on that foundation to create something truly unique and special for the college football community. Now is the time to take that next step. Thanks for your patience as we navigate this large undertaking, and that will be rewarded with what’s going to officially launch on August 1st, 2026 — the new CFB Depth.
“CFBAI” Agent
We won’t bury the lead. It’s the AI Agent. We are working with Claude/Anthropic to build the first fully-loaded Agent specific to CFB. This will combine the power of Claude with our proprietary data (along with data from other respected providers) to get you answers to your questions quickly and accurately. Instead of us guessing what you want to know. You tell us, and CFBAI will deliver.
Depth Chart / Team Page Upgrades
One of the challenges we are solving for in this next build is better performance (load times) and more detailed views on our team pages. We have re-engineered these to solve for both use cases. The delivery will be clean and allow for more ‘diving in’ into each team’s makeup. Each team page will feature the following views:
Dashboard: The initial view will give some of the key metrics and a look at the schedule/results in a scrollable view
Offense: Showing the offensive profile and positional depth charts for each of the offensive positions: QB, RB, WR, TE, OL. There are also additional views for stats (surface and advanced) beyond the general information like role, height/weight, recruiting stars and player overall rating.
Defense: Displays the defensive metrics and profile with position group depth charts including DL, LB, DB. This also has additional views for standard and advanced stats for the current season.
Special Teams: Shows the overall AIR ranking for the Special Teams unit, which now includes more than just the specialists (Place Kicker, Punter, Kickoff/Punt Returners), including the kickoff specialist, long snapper(s), and kickoff and punt coverage teams.
Injury/Status Report: This is an enhanced view of the current injury and status for each team. It now includes a couple of features to help make sense of what is a critical piece of information on each team. This now includes an “impact score” for each injury, determined by the player's importance to on-field success and the recency of the update. This is rolled up into an overall. impact score for comparison, providing a high-level view of the impacts you can expect to see for each squad in real time. We’ll also be adding a “recently cleared” section that shows any players who have fallen off the injury/status report and are good to go. Instead of them just disappearing with no notice, they’ll be shown in a section below to make sure we’re covering all of our bases.
Roster Breakdown: A full, sortable look at the live active roster and its makeup, including some fun metrics to follow. We’ll show the total number of players on the roster, the percentage of transfers vs. homegrown players, the Blue Chip Ratio (original 4-5-star recruits), and the average weight of the entire roster. We’ll break down the recruiting star ratings in further detail and provide the top five states from which the players hail. The roster itself is sortable by number, name, position, YER (years of eligibility remaining), recruiting star rating, overall current rating, state, height, weight and displays any previous schools.
Player Ratings Hub (Depth+ feature): This is a player-by-player look at the trends in ratings. This is designed to show how much a player has grown overall and in certain positional skill sets from the beginning of the season.
The New “Data Hub”
You want data? We have data. That includes our advanced metrics along with the surface stats and information any level of fan, analyst, coach, or gambler would need/want to develop their own insights. Our new “Data Hub” is the one-stop shop for everything. It’s quick and updated LIVE as our depth charts and playing-time projections change due to any number of factors (injuries, the doghouse, etc.). You’ll be able to navigate through all of our metrics in on place. Game changing.
All-Access Level
Just want more? We are introducing an “All Access” subscription level that includes everything we can offer. All of the data and access to the fastest-growing community of college football experts, hardcore fans, gamblers, and anything in between. You’ll have access to our exclusive invite-only Discord channel to ask specific questions, crowdsource on what is on your mind, request features or new data points, workshop CFBAI prompts, and anything else you can dream up.
Insights; Analysis & Content
We will continue to develop our own insights and analysis using our data, the AI agent, and other primary sources to create content to be shared here on Substack. So, if you just want to see what comes out of all of this, stay here and stay subscribed because we’ll have plenty coming your way.
If you are an analyst, college football enthusiast, and writer, and want to join our team, we’re
growing, so hit us up and we’ll talk.
An important note that none of this growth would be possible without our early supporters. You are included in that. Thank you for believing in this and allowing for this big step forward for the 2026 season. More updates to come on the builds and launch, so please stay tuned, and we look forward to DOMINATING the 2026 college football season with you.
Let’s go!

CFBAI will fill a gigantic void. Every time I tap a mainstream AI for cfb research, I come away very unimpressed and frustrated.
