CFB DeptHITS: Saturday, October 26
Week nine is upon us. We are here with the latest injury and availability news impacting these games and will provide a list of those "Q's" and "GTDs" we should be tracking...
It’s Saturday morning on another glorious day of College Football. We are here to provide you with some of the big updates you’ll want to know heading into these games. If you have not yet, please check out our new “Game Cards” posted over at the site for more information that you’ll probably need on any of these games…
Vanderbilt ::: RB Sedrick Alexander has been removed from the injury report as he has progressed from questionable, to probable and looks ready to roll against Texas in week nine. S Kolbey Taylor is also moved up to probable as others move off the report and the 'Dores look healthy heading into this big one.
Further: In general, the ‘Dores got healthy quick for this game against Texas. Maybe some gamesmanship with the availability reports? In the end, it won’t matter. Vandy will need all available bodies and syncing up just right if they are going to take down the Longhorns.
Texas ::: Both S Andrew Mukuba and WR Isaiah Bond are downgraded to 'out' for week nine against Vanderbilt.
Further: The news not so great on the Texas side of things with impact players being ruled out for this one. Both Mukaba and Bond are starters and big contributors. That said, if there are teams with depth at these positions to handle the blow of these losses — Texas is certainly one of them.
LSU ::: WR Chris Hilton Jr. has been upgraded to 'probable' and now appears set to make his 2024 debut at Texas A&M on Saturday of week nine.
Further: This is exciting. We may actually see Hilton Jr. this week against A&M. We’ve heard this before, so we are tempering expectations.
Michigan ::: QB Davis Warren will get the start for the Wolverines over Jack Tuttle and Alex Orji. This whole quarterback situation is not ideal, but they will roll with Warren, at least to start week nine against Michigan State.
Further: Thought about not making this one a ‘hit’ just because it really doesn’t impact much. Each of these players are equally average and likely we will see multiple players under and behind center for the Wolverines. It is Michigan though, so we must at least mention it, no?
Missouri ::: QB Brady Cook is going to try to ramp up and play against Alabama in Tuscaloosa tomorrow afternoon. It sounds like he will get the same "treatment" done prior to the game and be able to suit up for the game. If he is unable to go, we will see Drew Pyne leading the Tigers' offense.
Further: The dude went to the hospital in-game last week against Auburn and returned to lead the Tigers to victory. He is not going to miss this game. They will get that long needle out and make that pain go away. Cook wants to finish this one out for the Tigers and if the small sampling we saw from Drew Pyne in backup duty last week is an indication, the Tigers will want/need the same.
|||||| FRIDAY NIGHT UPDATES
Rutgers ::: Both RB Kyle Monangai took a shot to the head in the third quarter Friday night against USC and did not return. He's been banged up most of this season and played through it. This could be a decisive blow, we'll track it.
Louisville ::: RB Maurice Turner was working his way closer to getting on the field but was announced out prior to Friday night's week nine matchup against Boston College. He will need more time to make his way back.
USC ::: The Trojans missed a good chunk of their secondary in the Friday night tilt with Rutgers. Greedy Vance Jr. was announced as out and joined Jacobe Covington as missing the game. Kamari Ramsey and Jaylin Smith were added as doubtful. They overcame and got the win against an equally beat up Rutgers team.
Boise State ::: RB Ashton Jeanty was a little banged up in the Broncos win over UNLV. He was favoring his arm and ended up getting it wrapped pretty good. No word on any severe damage done, but worth noting for the G5 Heisman hopeful. He managed 128 yards on 33 carries with one touchdown as the Rebels slowed him down more than anybody else has to this point.
Boston College ::: The Eagles played without starting LB Kam Arnold and third-string RB Turbo Richard for Friday night's showdown with Louisville. It ended up going south, and certainly Arnold’s absence was more impactful than Richard’s.
|||||| TRACKING IMPACT STATUSES FOR SATURDAY
