CFBDepth 2.0 Launched; Now What?
With CFBDepth 2.0 launched and with a better performing website, tracking mechanisms, a fully-integrated AI Agent and more, we continue to look ahead.
It’s an exciting time in our growth story as, thanks to so many early supporters, we were able to invest in our operations to solve some of the issues we faced starting up. Our goal this off-season was to improve our site performance, build a more nimble player database and ratings system and provide a mechanism for our subs to get answers to the questions they really want.
We have accomplished all three.
If you head over to cfbdepth.com, you’ll find a new interface and MUCH faster-loading pages. You can navigate seamlessly through and not have to watch that scrolling circle. Yes, the information was worth the wait, but let’s get it to you faster.
We have launched CFBAI, a Claude/Anthropic-powered Agent fully integrated with our data to help get you what you need for the season. This remains in beta mode and like any AI agent, it needs feedback and can always improve. As you test it out, feel free to use the thumbs up/thumbs down feature to provide that feedback and we will work to get it where it needs to be.
Behind the curtain, we have also improved our player rating system to be more nimble and include just about every data point on a player we could imagine including. It will also update faster and provide quicker, automated adjustments to playing time in-season based on snap counts. We’ll still have our conference experts going in and ensuring everything is populating properly, but this is a big step towards being “ready” earlier in the week.
We have also produced our 2nd annual State of the Chart™ preview magazine. This monster includes a four-page, data-driven and informed look at all 138 FBS schools headed into 2026. If you haven’t yet, check it out…
So, what? What’s next?
I know, that’s all well and good, but what’s coming up that is going to keep you on your toes as we prepare for the 2026 season and eventually enter “in-season” mode? Answer: Plenty.
We’re currently populating our team- and player-level projections for the upcoming season. We’ll have seasonal and weekly projections. New for 2026: We’ll project out all of the weeks ahead of time in case you want to jump in on any futures, or you are making plans for your college fantasy football league.
We are tracking camp news like no other and updating both the injury/status reports and depth chart positions and playing time projections all pre-season. This is a never-ending process, and we’ll be using this space on Substack to begin providing you with a glimpse into what’s changing each day.
As we build up to the regular season, we are also looking to improve upon our “Game Cards,” providing a faster and deeper comparison for each matchup during the 2026 season. In case you aren’t familiar, this is one of our most popular in-season productions — a side-by-side of each team that includes all of the KPI’s needed to make smart decisions. We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to that week zero kickoff on August 29th.
