Week Three Injury & Impact Report
We'll examine the most impactful individual injuries we are tracking heading into week three and compile them into a comprehensive team impact report.
Now two full weeks into the season, we are beginning to see the injuries racking up across college football. With 136 teams we are tracking, that equates to over 800 injuries on our report in some fashion. They range from a hang nail to a full-on season-ending leg fracture. The challenging part about this volume is putting it into context and getting a forward-looking view on how these injuries may impact the on-field performance for each team this coming week. That’s what we are here for.
INDIVIDUAL IMPACT INJURIES ::::::
We’ll start with the most impactful individual injuries we have on the reports thus far, with a quick hit on the latest we have on them (including just those with 14+ rating):
Oregon: OL Alex Harkey [16.4] [ Probable ] -- Injured in-game week two and looked in some discomfort on the ground with a leg injury. Returned to the game and is probable to play. The question is if he’ll be 100%.
Tennessee: DB Jermod McCoy [16.4] [ Out ] -- Suffered a torn ACL while training in the off-season; has hit all of the recovery benchmarks but still no exact timetable for return. McCoy’s return to the field will be a big boon for the Vols, but it won’t be in week three.
USC: K Caden Chittenden [16.3] [ Out ] -- Expected to miss a few weeks into the season with an injury. Has yet to kick for the Trojans and is not expected back for week three. Ryon Sayeri has done a fine job in his stead, going 2/2 on field goals and 16/16 on extra points.

NEW INJURY IMPACT REPORT ::::::
Another leading indicator and data point that we like to track is the impact of ‘NEW’ injuries or status changes that could impact the upcoming week. Here is a look at the top ten teams with the most signficant NEW injury impacts:
Coach Prime and the Buffaloes have quite the extensive week three availability report update. They have 17 “new” injuries. The number to the right represents the number of ‘impact’ injuries that fall within those 17. That is the number that contributes to the NEW Impact rating.
