Iowa ::: Top CB Jermari Harris has decided to opt out of the rest of the 2024 Hawkeyes season and will prepare for the NFL Draft. This is a big loss for the Hawkeyes secondary. However, if there is depth and scheming to make up for it, we'd see it in Iowa City.
In other Hawkeye news, QB Cade McNamara did not make the trip to College Park, MD and will not play this week, leaving the likely starting duties to Jackson Stratton. Marco Lainez was said to be getting closer to full health and would likely see time if he is healthy, but we have not seen an update there.
Oklahoma ::: Just when we thought WR Jalil Farooq was over his injury concerns by playing in week 11, he is back "out" for week 13 after the bye week. This is getting quite ridiculous. No unit has been more ravaged by long-term injuries than the Sooners. Expect to see a lot of Jacob Jordan and Brenen Thompson getting the looks from Jackson Arnold in this battle with Alabama.
Missouri ::: QB Brady Cook was removed completely from the SEC availability report and is good to go against Mississippi State in week 13.
Michigan State ::: TE Jack Velling was carted off the field during the week 13 game Friday evening against Purdue. Velling is a big part of the Spartans offense (projected 19% target share) and if he is out for the remainder, it could impact their ability to get to six wins and get that Bowl game.
UTSA ::: The Roadrunners were without one of their top wide outs, who was questionable heading in, Devin McCuin didn't play. They didn't need him apparently in the blowout win over Temple on Friday evening. He will remain questionable for the final regular season game.
Arkansas ::: TE Var'Keyes Gumms, who put up big numbers at North Texas before his transfer to the Razorbacks, has not carved out a role in a talented room and will make plans to enter the portal this off-season.
Arizona State ::: The Sun Devils are investing in big reasons for the quick turn around and becoming one of the better teams in the country under head coach Kenny Dillingham. They are re-upping with both offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo and defensive coordinator Brian Ward, giving them new three-year contracts.
