Happy Halloween to all who celebrate. We'll go over the latest impactful news & notes, get a primer on the initial SEC Availability Report and provide links to plenty of fresh Game Cards...
We make hundreds of tiny tweaks and adjustments to our live 134 FBS depth chart pages at CFBDepth.com. This feature is designed to bring the “need to knows” to the forefront and provide you with some context on what it all means. As always, you can click on the school names to bring you to the full depth chart page if you’d like to nerd out a little more. Today, we’ll hit the latest news and notes from around college football, provide that primer on the SEC Availability Reports and links to mid-day week 10 Game Cards…
Ohio State ::: LT Zen Michalski is not trending towards not playing while S Lathan Ransom is now considered "good to go" at Penn State.
Pittsburgh ::: QB Eli Holstein has been cleared to play week 10. He suffered an injury late in the week 9 game and was put in a 'wait and see' prognosis. Being 'cleared' is not the same as for sure playing, but it is a step in the right direction and it sure seems that he is ready to roll.
Florida International ::: WR Nazeviah Burris has a torn labrum and will miss the rest of the season. He joins Juju Lewis on the shelf in this now thinning wide receiver room for FIU.
Coastal Carolina ::: Head coach Tim Beck is not sure who will be getting the ball on Saturday for the Chants. It's between Ethan Vasko and Noah Kim. Chances are we'll see both of them in week ten against Troy.
UNLV ::: QB Matthew Sluka has officially entered the transfer portal.
Middle Tennessee ::: RB Frank Peasant has not played since week two and it was thought to be because of injury. There was no news coming out about his availability until today when the announcement came across that he would be entering the transfer portal as a graduate and will play next year elsewhere.
Houston ::: Add LT Dakota White to the list of those players announced 'out for the season' as he suffered a broken foot in week nine and will be out. Jake Wiley will move over to start at that LT spot with Cedric Melton backing up. David Ndukwe will start at RT going forward.
Missouri ::: QB Brady Cook will return this season. That exact timetable is not set and he remains very questionable in the short-term.
Georgia Tech ::: Brent Key has filled the open Cornerbacks coach job that was vacated with the departure of Ricky Brumfield. Tanner Cotman was most recently a quality control coach with the Yellow Jackets. He followed DC Tyler Santucci from Duke where he spent two seasons.
Louisiana Tech ::: QB Evan Bullock was replaced by backup Jack Turner in the fourth quarter of week ten against Sam Houston. The Bulldogs offense struggled all day and finished with just three points. We'll put these two as 'co-starters' for now with the slight edge going back to Bullock as they prep for week 11 against Jacksonville State.
Texas State ::: QB Jordan McCloud was injured in the first half and did not return. He was also seen on the sidelines and looked to be moving gingerly. We'll put him as questionable for week 11 at ULM.
Sam Houston ::: QB Hunter Watson gave it a go on Tuesday in week 10 but appeared to have re-injured his non-throwing shoulder and may miss some time. The Bearkats do have a bye week 11 for Watson to heal up and get back out there.
Louisiana ::: CB Keyon Martin suffered a gruesome injury in Tuesday's nights week 10 matchup with Texas State. He suffered an injury earlier in week eight as well and is likely out for a while.
|||||| SEC AVAILABILITY REPORT PRIMER
Tennessee ::: WR Squirrel White is removed from the SEC injury report and is ready to role despite playing through a couple of ailments.
Kentucky ::: Starting LBs D'Eryk Jackson and J.J. Weaver are both listed as 'out' on the initial report. Both are full-time starters in the linebacking corps and are big losses. RB DeaMonte "Chip" Trayanum is 'out' while Demie Sumo-Karngbaye is 'probable' to return in week 10.
South Carolina ::: The Gamecocks are pretty darn healthy heading into the week 10 showdown with A&M. WR Jared Brown, as expected, is listed as probable. Just OL Jakai Moore and DL DeAndre Jules are confirmed out and are not new injuries.
Texas A&M ::: Nothing crazy on the A&M injury report as the usual suspects show up and remind us that WR Jahdae Walker will miss the first half after a targeting penalty in second half of the LSU game.
Georgia ::: Both S Joenel Aguero and Dan Jackson must sit out the first half of the Florida game due to targeting calls in the second half of their last played game week eight against Texas. DL Jordan Hall and OL Tate Ratledge are now both probable and used the bye week to get healthy.
Florida ::: WR Eugene Wilson III is back on the list and will not play week 10 against Georgia. The secondary is still banged up even coming off of the bye week for the Gators. Jason Marshall Jr. is listed as out, joining Ja'Keem Jackson and Asa Turner on the shelf. Starting RG Damieon George Jr. is listed as questionable. Finally, RB Montrell Johnson Jr. remains questionable as well.
Auburn ::: DB Keionte Scott played last week limited to special teams and is listed as 'questionable' this week. Likely in a similar situation. WR Caleb Burton III missed week nine and is listed as 'out' again in week 10. He is not a big part of the passing attack. K Alex McPherson is back on the report as questionable.
Vanderbilt ::: The Commodores added six new names as 'questionable' to the injury report on Wednesday evening. That included some important players, including DLYilanan Ouattara, LB Langston Patterson, RB Sedrick Alexander, DT Christian James, DE Khordae Sydnor and CB Kolbey Taylor. The 'Dores did a similar thing last Wednesday, only to move most to probable and eventually off the report. We think that's at play here for everybody except Taylor, who appears to be truly questionable.
Arkansas ::: No big surprises on the list for the Razorbacks. Both RB Ja'Quinden Jackson and DB Jaylon Braxton are officially listed as 'out' for week 10 against Ole Miss.
Ole Miss ::: Starting LG Nate Kalepo was added to the initial SEC Availability Report as questionable. Possible replacements are on the way if needed as both Jayden Williams and Jeremy Jones are listed as probable. OL Micah Pettus and Walter Nolen were hurt in week nine game and both are listed probable to return week 10 against Arkansas. WR Tre Harris remains 'questionable'.
