Texas ::: RB Jerrick Gibson's ball security issues moved him back down the depth chart as Quintrevion Wisner re-took the lead back role for the Longhorns in week 12 with 17 carries. Jaydon Blue was right behind him with 14, but was banged up late in the game. He is practicing leading up to week 13.
Auburn ::: With Alex McPherson still struggling with injury and Towns McGough strugging to a 5/12 kicking season; the Tigers have turned to Division 3 transfer Ian Vachon as their primary place kicker. He went 2/2 on short field goals and 6/6 on PATs in his first action against ULM on Saturday. He will remain the primary kicker against A&M in week 13.
Charlotte ::: The 49ers have fired head coach Biff Poggi. Tim Brewster will handle the head coaching duties as an interim for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Ole Miss ::: WR Tre Harris is said to be "good to go" for week 13. We've heard this before and we won't take it as gospel but things are looking up for the talented receiver.
Louisiana ::: The Cajuns were without star DB Tyree Skipper for the week 12 loss. We don't see a whole lot of news on the reason for the absense, but we'll ask around. This is a big loss for their secondary and defense as a whole.
Hawaii ::: Apparently starting S Peter Manuma's injuries continue as he logged just five snaps in week 12. Worth noting as he is a full-time player when healthy in that Warrior secondary.
Florida International ::: It is worth noting that star LB Travion Barnes missed the week 12 game due to a family matter. He did not travel with the team to the game. His status is questionable going forward, but it is not an injury-related matter keeping him out.
Utah ::: The Utes defense was without starting DL Van Fillinger, who did not play due to an undisclosed issue. We are not seeing a specific reason or length of expected absense, but we are asking around.
Boise State ::: Starting LB Andrew Simpson was an under-the-radar big DNP for the Broncos on Saturday. There is not much news out there about his absence, so we will put him as questionable for week 13 at Wyoming and track it closely.
Kennesaw State ::: Two more Owls announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal. That list now includes DB Jayven Williams and EDGE Jamar Rucks.
West Virginia ::: Mountaineer injury updates from Neal Brown are not very positive: DBs Ayden Garnes and Aubrey Burks will remain out. WR Traylon Ray is out for the season and WR Jaden Bray suffered a setback and is now back to doubtful for week 13.
Clemson ::: Many injuries on the Clemson offensive line forced quite the shake-up. That included Blake Miller moving to the LT spot (from RT) with Walker Parks moving down to fill RT. Trent Howard got the start at LG. Check out the full Clemson O-Line on the official depth chart page.
South Carolina ::: TE Brady Hunt was hurt (lower leg) in week 12 and will miss a couple of games, but the hope is to have him back for any post-season appearances.
Texas A&M ::: WR Cyrus Allen suffered what looked to be a rather significant injury in week 12. It did turn out to be season-ending as reported on Monday. He will miss the remainder of the 2024 campaign.
Florida Atlantic ::: Head coach Tom Herman has been fired at FAU. He will be replaced on an interim basis by Associate Head Coach, Special Teams coordinator and Tight Ends coach Chad Lunsford. The school also announced the re-hiring of Defensive Coordinator Roc Bellantoni after he was let go just a week ago by Herman.
Starting C Federico Maranges was absent from the week 12 game. Typical RG Andre Lamas moved over to center to hold down that spot, while Alex Atcavage held down RG again. No word on the severity of Maranges' ailment, but we'll be tracking it.
Wyoming ::: TE John Michael Gyllenborg was announced out prior to week 12 kickoff. When healthy, he is a big part of this offense and his collarbone injury may linger into the final games of the season. We'll keep an eye on him but he is listed as 'questionable' going forward.
Kentucky ::: Starting LT Gerald Mincey was hurt back in week eight. It has been updated to say that he will miss the remainder of the season and it likely ends his college playing career. Also, starting LB D'Eryk Jackson was hurt week nine and has not made it back. Now he is announced 'out for the season' and we'll see more of Alex Afari Jr. on the field.
Florida International ::: RB Kejon Owens, who averaged just under 10 carries a game heading into week 12 did not play. We haven't found any news of a reported injury, but that is the assumption at this time. We'll open an investigation into what's going on there. Devonte Lyons actaully led the Panthers with his first 12 carries of the season.
Navy ::: QB Blake Horvath was injured in the week 12 game and was not able to return, giving way to Braxton Woodson. The Mids were shutout by Tulane and we'll be keep an eye out for updates on Horvath's status going forward.
Iowa ::: QB Brendan Sullivan has an ankle injury that will keep him out for the remainder of the season. Cade McNamara is also hurt but may return for the Hawkeyes. For now, it appears Jackson Stratton could start for the rest of 2024.
Clemson ::: Both injured offensive linemen Tristan Leigh and Marcus Tate did not travel with the Tigers after suffering injuries in week 11.
Clemson ::: DL Peter Woods made his return to the field for the Tigers and played a full load (60 snaps), recorded a sack and a hurry and is a very welcome return to this defensive line.
Pittsburgh ::: QB Eli Holstein will not be able to go for the Panthers here in week 12. Nate Yarnell got the call and threw it all over the yard to varying success, going 34/54 for 350 yards, 1 TD and 1 costly INT. WR Konata Mumpfield made it back and hauled in five passes for 58 yards in the hard fought 24-20 loss to Clemson.
Boston College ::: Backup RB Turbo Richard will miss another game for the Eagles week 12, leaving Kye Robichaux as the bellcow against SMU.
