We make hundreds of tweaks and adjustments to our LIVE depth charts over at CFBDepth.com. Here, we pull out the ones we think you should know. You can click on the team name on any of these to see their full depth chart page if you’d like to know more…
Ohio State ::: RB Quinshon Judkins underwent a hand procedure during the Buckeye bye week. Ryan Day says he feels better than he did entering the Oregon game. No worries about his availability (as of now). Also, Day confirmed that the injury to LT Josh Simmons will end his season.
Missouri ::: QB Brady Cook's ankle injury is sure to cause a bit of a problem as the Tigers prep for their trip to Alabama in week nine. It was clear he received a cortizone shot to relieve the pain and finish out week eight against Auburn. RB Nate Noel also was hurt and returned in week eight and is looking doubtful to be able to go against the Tide.
Purdue ::: QB Hudson Card has made his way back to practice and head coach Ryan Walters hints towards the possibility of a two-QB system going against Northwestern when the Boilers return to the field after their week nine bye. He may split time with Ryan Browne, who has been inconsistent with his handle on the starting job.
WR CJ Smith had a "great" practice here leading up to week nine and is inching closer to making his 2024 debut. He would likely be a big(ger) part of the Boilermakers passing attack.
SMU ::: TE RJ Maryland was hurt in week eight. The prognosis has him out for the season. A big loss for this entire SMU Mustangs offense.
Iowa ::: TE Addison Ostrenga is going to remain out "a while" and OL Beau Stephens will not play week nine against Wisconsin, but he is expected back at some point in 2024. QB Cade McNamara is the starting QB "as of now" according to Kirk Ferentz.
Oregon State ::: We could see more of RB Salahadin Allah in the Oregon State running game according to OC Ryan Gunderson. Anthony Hankerson can use a breather from time-to-time and it could be the freshman Allah getting that job while Jam Griffin is sidelined.
TCU ::: RB Trent Battle took eight carries in week eight. He has been called out by HC Sonny Dykes as a potential No. 1 back heading into week nine. Cam Cook just hasn't quite taken a full grasp on the job. Also mentioned Jeremy Payne as showing "flashes" and all should see carries going forward.
Charlotte ::: The 49ers are getting healthy at the QB position. Max Brown returned to action last week and now Deshawn Purdie, who has been out since an injury suffered in week six, has returned to practice. Brown is the starter when both are healthy - at least for now.
Oklahoma State ::: Starting LT Dalton Cooper will reportedly miss time with an in injury suffered week eight. Isaia Glass will most likely take over that spot until Cooper can return.
Troy ::: QB Goose Crowder's attempt to return this season has ended. The Trojans will shut him down for the 2024 season. That will mean we will continue to see likely a revolving door between Matthew Caldwell and Tucker Kilcrease under center. Not ideal.
Georgia Tech ::: Update on QB Haynes King has him now listed as "day-to-day" instead of confirmed out for week nine. We'll lean more towards a 'doubtful' tag for the matchup with Virginia Tech.
Colorado ::: CB/WR Travis Hunter has a 'pep in his step' at practice and is expected to contribute more in week nine as he is getting healthier. RB Isaiah Augustave will get the start and the bulk of the carries in the backfield for week nine.
California ::: RB Jadyn Ott is getting closer to make his return after missing the last two games. He has returned to practice pre-week nine and while he remains questionable, he is certainly looking more probable to return. Meanwhile, WR Tobias Merriweather is also practicing and could make his anticipated Cal debut this week.
Virginia ::: WR Trell Harris has been out for a while after undergoing a procedure but is still targeting week 12 now as his return timeline. S Antonio Clary is practicing and "hopeful" to return. RG Ty Furnish is doubtful to play week nine. LB James Jackson has a foot injury and is week-to-week. Source: @JacquieFran_
Syracuse ::: TE Trebor Pena was banged up back in week seven and needs to get in a good practice before he is cleared for week nine against Pitt. We'll list him as questionable until we hear more.
Memphis ::: The Tigers are switching starting kickers and going with Tristian Vandenberg, who replaces Caden Costa moving forward.
UTEP ::: QB Skyler Locklear will got call starting under center for the Miners last night and struggled to get the offense moving. He finished 8/14 for just 84 yards and a touchdown. We also got a glimpse of JP Pickles for the first time as he came in and attempted two passes. He may have jumped Shay Smith for the now backup role as starter Cade McConnell remains out.
Florida International ::: QB Chayden Peery jumped Amari Jones as the replacement for a really ineffective Keyone Jenkins late in the first half week nine against Sam Houston. He led the Panthers to their only scoring drive and may challenge to wrestle the job away from Jenkins.
Sam Houston ::: QB Hunter Watson and WR Noah Smith both missed week eight's Tuesday night matchup with FIU. Jase Bauer got the call at QB and for Smith, it was his second absense in a row. Bauer finished 14/21 for 76 yards passing and ran it 15 times for 72 yards.
Florida Atlantic ::: QB Cam Fancher is limited at practice during their bye week nine. He will have some time to get fully healthy before the Owls' week 10 game against USF.
